There are a number of courses and quick degree opportunities that are offered by Institutions that allow people to acquire a quick graphic art certificates. Most of these institutions promise young people a quick degree and a guaranteed six figure sum of salary. So what most young people think that this would be a much easier option and a shorter option to start off their careers as compared to the financial requirements and the time spent on a longer time period dedicated to a design university.

However, before you take up that decision hastily you must realize that there is nothing won so easily, and you cannot just assume that you will meet with success with just spending a few months of graphic art basics; you need to be wary of all these factors before you take such a decision up. However there are also opinions that will refute the above mentioned claims. There are many people from the graphic arts industry who will claim that a person with the right kind of experience, who is tech savvy and has a knack for graphics arts will be able to make it big by having that extra edge only by having a degree from graphics arts schools. Usually, these graphics arts schools are very different from a proper four year University design course, especially the time period dedicated to the course is much shorter, also there is much more attention paid to the graphics part of art rather than design in general. So it is agreed that an outstandingly talented individual who has a portfolio that is ready to impress will definitely have a much bigger chance than an average person who has had the experience of a four year design education.

On the other hand if you only have a certificate from some graphics arts schools but that is your only achievement to speak of, and you have not had much experience neither do you have a portfolio to take you ahead, then the opportunities that you will be getting, at least initially will not be close to the kind of a job you want to do.

The basic point of the whole matter, that is whether you should go in for a conventional art and design college or rather graphics art schools depends completely on your own artistic and graphic abilities and what your personal preferences are as well. Your finances and your career goals will also make a difference in the decision that you take. A four year education will of course be more expensive and will also take you a longer time to start earning. On the other hand a degree from graphics arts schools is much quicker and easier to procure. However if you are truly talented in the profession and you already have some practical experience in the field enough to have a good portfolio then it will not really matter whether you are from graphics arts schools or not. As long as you can deliver you will get the job.
